Our Weekend at the Lake
We headed to Lake Texoma early Friday morning and stayed through Sunday evening. Some wonderful church members shared their HUGE lake house, we are so grateful. We went with my parents and sister, my parents friends Steve and Beverly Garms, and my Uncle John and cousin Cason. We spent the mornings down on the sandy beach and in the water and the hot parts of the day playing WiiFit.

Blake
Tonight during dinner, Lincoln threw some food off his highchair. Usually we make him get down and pick it up, but tonight, Ryan sternly said Lincoln....Gage....and before he could finish, Lincoln said "Blake".
Who knew he knew his own last name? To his credit, Lincoln isn't the easiest name to say!

Daddy-O
The early days!
Before church on Sunday. Couldn't get the boy to smile!
Ryan is an incredible Father to Lincoln. He is hands-on, affectionate, and always present in the moment with Lincoln. Ryan has a great Dad and grandfather, so he has some great examples.
It was fun celebrating Father's Day with Ryan as well as my own Dad. Here's to another great year!

Recalled?!?!?
What are we going to do? While I was pregnant with Lincoln, I ate two of these ready made, Ultimate Chocolate Chunks and Chip Cookies every night. Lincoln is 21 months and we are still eating these most nights. They have been recalled, so we are going through withdrawal! Nestle, please fix this problem ASAP!

An Unlikely Messenger
Lincoln and I went for a walk this morning and as usual, Lincoln spotted the playground and adjoining swings. So, I wheeled him over for a mid-walk swing (or as Lincoln likes to say, "hanging").
There was an older, Asian couple sitting on the park bench and we started chatting. They asked how old he was, his name, etc. And as they were leaving, the gentleman said to me "When your boy is a man, he will always remember that his mother took him to the park to swing".
Immediately, my brain started thinking, A man? A man? I can't even fathom the idea that my baby boy will someday grow up and become a man.
He continued to say that when he was a little boy in his country, his mother used to push him on the swings. He said it with such love and admiration for her, that I could tell she was no longer living.
I probably won't see them again, but how grateful I am for that message and reminder. I hope that one day when Lincoln looks back on his childhood, he is filled with happy memories and joy. Because for me, at this point, it would be impossible for me to be any happier.

Brenden's 2nd Birthday
My best friend's son turned 2 on Saturday, so we headed to Frisco to help him celebrate. We had a fun time swimming and eating, but left on a sad note, sort of :). If Brenden is 2, that means Lincoln will be 2 in less than 3 months. THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!
The day before we went to "Rocket Park" in Allen with Auntie Holly and the kids she nannies for, Chance and Baily. Lincoln had a ball following Baily around, they even matched. I like this shot, looks like a Tommy Hillfiger add with the blond hair and patriotic clothing!
Isn't she precious!

Nice to Meet You!
Lincoln is starting to say his friends names. If he sees their picture, he calls their name. Here are some of the names/nicknames he's come up with.
Auntie Holly = Hah ee
Friend Anna = Anna
Friend Ella = Ella (also, anyone in a tutu is named Ella, too)
Miss Megan = Mey Mey
Chance = Ckence
We are still working on Conner, Brenden and Audrey. So far, so good!
Other totally random words include:
Purple
Tee Tee
Flush
Potty
Marshmallow
Popsicle
Basketball
Tricycle
Soccer
Polo
Puma
Powder
He does the motions to the Aggie Yell "Farmer's Fight"
And finally, he can say/point to/recognize all but about 5 of his letters. Who really cares about X, J, H, anyway?

My Saturday
We went to watch Cason's baseball game. It was the first time we've seen him play this year. He did great and Lincoln loved watching the kids. He kept trying to sneak into the dugout and out on the field. He also enjoyed climbing up the little hill and sliding down. He got his very own scoop of orange sherbet and as it melted, he dropped it in his lap. Here are two shots of the end result.

60%
After checking out the grocery ads, I decided to do my weekly shopping at Tom Thumb. Nothing grabbed my attention at Kroger. Before store promotions and coupons, my total was $117.81. After discounts, promotions and coupons, my total was $47.73 for a savings total of %60. Even though I've stayed within my grocery budget the last 6-8 weeks, the good deals have been few and far between. I was excited to get a bunch of staples for our pantry. I have plenty of ground sirloin and chicken breast in the freezer, so we'll be set for another week.
Some of my best deals from today.
Crystal Light - Free
Diet 7up 2 liter - Free
Diet Sunkist 2 liter - Free
4 Boxes of cereal $1.17 each
3 Large Jello pudding $0.16 each (we love parfaits around here)
2 boxes Wheat Thins $1.00 each
Juice boxes $0.50
2 jugs of Bleach $0.49 each
And before you say anything...I don't buy paper towels or paper plates, but I got these today for pennies and I couldn't resist. I did buy 100% recycled foil, so it all balances out, right?
Today's haul!

Wedding Song
Ryan and I had 3 songs at our wedding. The first two were short Praise and Worship choruses We Fall Down and Surely the Presence. Then, my Dad, Steve (the minister who married us) and Keith (former CCBC music minister) sang Shine on Us. I love being in church or driving in the car and hearing one of those songs. It brings up such wonderful feelings and memories. I recently downloaded Shine on Us onto my IPOD. I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner, but if you had songs at your wedding, it might be fun to have these on your IPOD. I love finding little ways to stay connected with Ryan. This is an easy one!
