Check out what Lincoln did today while Mommy was working. Looks like he didn't have time to miss me!

A Gorgeous Afternoon
There is nothing like a last minute deal. I read last week that the Arboretum was offering $1 admissions during the month of August. Today was the only day we could go, so after Sunday School, we headed out to the Dallas Arboretum for a picnic lunch and some flower gazing and picture taking. Here are some of our best shots of the day.

Chopsticks and Multitasking
Even though we had a big party for my Dad 2 weeks ago, we helped him celebrate his actual birthday last Monday. Lincoln enjoyed broccoli and chicken, but especially enjoyed trying out the chopsticks.
The next morning, this is where I found him. Brushing his teeth, in the bathtub, fully dressed, with the water running.
As for other updates, I've given up on blogging about his words, because there isn't anything he can't say or repeat. The month of August was a huge vocab boost, he is now speaking in 3-4 word phrases. Here are some of the recent ones...
1. Here comes Auntie Holly
2. Lincoln kick red ball
3. Lincoln swim with Ella
4. Mama read book
5. I go outside and slide
Lincoln knows all his colors, including brown, pink, white and black. He can count to about 14 on a good day, and recognizes all his letters. He knows most numbers by sight, so of course, we think he is a genius!
He continues to have a great sense of humor, constantly trying to get us to laugh. He can throw a pretty fantastic fit and has started sitting in time out.

A boy, his trucks and his ladies!
We decided to have a construction-themed birthday party. Which by the way is less than a month away...how is it possible Lincoln is almost two?!?!?! He is not a baby anymore and reminds me of that daily, especially when he says "no way, mommy". But, he has learned to give great hugs and is such a mamma's boy these days. Today while we were in the car, I was driving and he asked to hold hands. So, one hand on the wheel, one hand reaching back for his. I love this kid.
But I digress...so we trespassed to a field near our house to get these shots for our invites. Here are some of the better pictures.
Lincoln loves tractors. In fact, he has yet to say the word in a normal voice. He is usually screaming, TRACTOR!!!!
Today, we met the Wedemeyer girls for some playtime. Lincoln loves playing with these two and though Audrey is only 6 months younger, when asked who is your girlfriend, Lincoln replies "Ella". When I ask what he likes about Ella, he says "Ella, tutu". Miss Ella is a ballerina and wears a tutu. Funny enough, today Ella announced that I am her best friend...what an honor!
These three could easily pass for siblings!
It was so hot outside, their little cheeks got so red!
